Workers:   Mati Koppel    Eve Runno-Paurson

EU.NET.ICP was a network of 16 research groups from 12 European countries, all working on integrated control of potato late blight. The network was funded by the European Commission as a Concerted Action within the Programme for research, technological development and demonstration in the field of agriculture and fisheries 1994-1998. With the establishment of a network for communication between scientists and research groups who work on control of late blight, the following objectives are envisaged:

  • To co-ordinate ongoing research in order to avoid duplication of efforts.
  • Survey the state of the art on control of Phytophthora infestans and indicate information gaps in regards to integrating a Decision Support System.
  • Development of a European Integrated Control Strategy and a Decision Support System in which all available knowledge is integrated.
  • By harmonising ongoing field trials an Integrated Control Strategy and a Decision Support System will be validated on a European level.

Results were diffused to extension officers and farmers.

After the finalisation of the EU supported project the research consortium maintained good contacts and collaboration.  After the official end of the project the participants of the network have regularly  (annually or biannually met in workahops what have kindly been sponsored by private companies.
